Exhibitions at Pelham House

Pelham House is strongly committed to the promotion of arts and culture.

The house and grounds play host to a permanent collection of modern sculpture and throughout the year, we stage exhibitions of painting and photography by local artists.

In addition, our venue is regularly hired by arts groups and promoters to stage a wide variety of theatrical, musical and poetic cultural events.

"Until April 28th Pelham House plays host to an exhibition by "Artizan Editions" limited edition and original printmakers. They are joined for this show by first time exhibitor in the U.K. Nagay Sandor Zoltan from Hungary. Artists include Maria Kuipers, Sally McGill, Brian Rice, Geoffrey Robinson, and John Simpson.

From Friday 30th of April we are excited to unveil Haydn Cottam's new body of work. Hayden is a painter who has recently moved to Lewes from London having been inspired by the beautiful countryside .Having studied at St. Martins he then won the BP Portrait award just one of many prestigious awards.

From Friday 3rd of July (work on sale from 5th) Peter Messer returns to the bar! for another exhibition of his tempera paintings. Peter exhibits frequently at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition as well as being a finalist in the Hunting, Garrick Milne, Lyn Painter-Stainers and Singer and Freelander prize exhibitions.

Also from the 3rd of April as part of Lewes's celebration of Tom Paine's Festival, "Paddock Printmakers" a local printmaking collective are producing a book of images of places in Lewes associated with his life. Prints will be on sale from the 5th individually or in book form.

Sculpture is always on exhibition in the garden and comes and go's as if by magic, so you never know when you will find a piece you haven't seen before.

ALL OUR EXHIBITIONS ARE OPEN FROM 9.00am to 9.00pm AND ARE FREE.

It has played host to the nationally renowned Lewes Guitar Festival and the acclaimed Lewes Live Literature Festival.

It has proved valuable as a venue for charitable found-raising events; our last Summer Ball raised £4000 for the Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice.

Our facilities are also popular for lecture series, group meetings and weekend seminars.
