Art Exhibitions at Pelham House

Pelham House is strongly committed to the promotion of arts and culture.

The house and grounds play host to a permanent collection of modern sculpture and throughout the year, we stage exhibitions of painting and photography by local artists.

In addition, our venue is regularly hired by arts groups and promoters to stage a wide variety of theatrical, musical and poetic cultural events.

Sculpture is always on exhibition in the garden and comes and goes as if by magic, so you never know when you will find a piece you haven't seen before.

All our exhibitions are open from 9.00am to 9.00pm and are free. Nearly all work is for sale.

Our facilities are also popular for lecture series, group meetings and weekend seminars.

Guy Stevens has exhibited regularly at Pelham House over the last four or five years. Visit his website here.

 Pelham House Bar

The Art of Global Warming

As part of the Artwave Festival, Pelham House Hotel is delighted to be hosting this new exhibition.

Date:

August 29 to October 6, 9am-9pm, Pelham House, Lewes.

Take a stroll into Pelham House during the Artwave Festival to catch a glimpse of two local artists’ work, made in response to global warming and climate change using recycled materials.

Jill Tattersall has recently started a series of paintings entitled: “Global War*n*ing” using recycled materials and often containing text of a vaguely apocalyptic nature about the dodgy interaction of man and nature.

Brenda May’s work
also explores the effects of the increase in global temperature and the danger this has to the survival of the earth.

Optimistically, she hopes her art work can change people's attitude and behaviours to prevent the disaster from happening.

Some of her work also suggests that life will re-emerge.
